Dieses besondere Gitarrenbanjo wurde 2016 von Andreas Köpke (www.pendennis.de) nach dem Vorbild der Vega Tubaphone Banjos gebaut. Es ist eine Spezialanfertigung für den deutschen Musiker und Schauspieler Tommi Piper (besonders bekannt als Synchronsprecher von Alf).
Das Instrument soll an den amerikanischen Jazzgitarristen Johnny St. Cyr erinnern, dessen Porträt auf der Rückseite des Wirbelkopfs eingelassen ist. Handwerklich perfekt gearbeitet und mit hochwertiger Messinghardware versehen, klingt die “Banjitar” deutlich besser als ihre historischen Vorbilder.
Länge 88cm, Mensur 58cm, Sattelbreite 45mm, Felldurchmesser 12″
Neben dem 12″ Tubaphone Tonering ist die kürzere Mensur (Tenor) eine weitere Besonderheit des Instruments. Die Stimmechaniken laufen geschmeidig, der einstellbare Hals sorgt für eine perfekte Saitenlage. Das Banjo kommt mit neuem Remo Renaissance Fell und Steg, ein Koffer kann noch optional erworben werden und ist nicht im Angebot enthalten.
Das Instrument hat minimale Alters- und Gebrauchsspuren wie kleine Dongs an den Kanten oder etwas Patina an der Messing-Hardware.

This unique guitar banjo was built in 2016 by Andreas Köpke (www.pendennis.de) based on the Vega Tubaphone banjos. It is a custom-made instrument for the German musician and actor Tommi Piper (best known as the voice of Alf).
The instrument is intended to evoke the American jazz guitarist Johnny St. Cyr, whose portrait is inlaid on the back of the tuning head. Perfectly crafted and fitted with high-quality brass hardware, the “Banjitar” sounds significantly better than its historical models.

In addition to the 12″ Tubaphone tone ring, the shorter scale length (tenor) is another distinctive feature of the instrument. The tuning mechanisms operate smoothly, and the adjustable neck ensures perfect string action. The banjo comes with a new Remo Renaissance head and bridge; a case can be purchased separately and is not included in this offer.
The instrument shows minimal signs of age and use, such as small dings on the edges or some patina on the brass hardware.
