Incredibly well-preserved instrument from its first owner, a nobleman in southern Germany. 9-piece body made of curly maple, spruce top, hand-carved rosette, and ebony pegs. Inside the case is an old note with the inscription “Laute von Meister Ferdinand Gregorius Wenger in Augsburg, gebürtig aus Wien (1680-1757). Neuschöpfung nach dem Original durch Meister Hermann Hauser zu München im Jahre 1935.” (Lute by master craftsman Ferdinand Gregorius Wenger in Augsburg, born in Vienna (1680-1757). New creation based on the original by master craftsman Hermann Hauser in Munich in 1935).
Length 101cm, width 35,5cm, scale length 65,5cm, nut width 51mm
Very good playing condition with just minimal signs of age like a tiny drying crack on the top below the bridge. Also tiny rubbing on the surface.
